Black Parents Know About “The Talk”-White Parents, It’s Your Turn

We know that Black parents are having “The Talk,” but White parents now it must be your turn to have “The Talk” with your own children. It is time for you to sit down with your children and tell them about the unjust world we live in. White parents, it is time for you to talk openly and honestly about the privilege of White identity, and the responsibility that comes with it. White parents, it is your turn to tell your children about the racialized, traumatic experiences that Black children are faced with every day in stark contrast to that of your children. White parents, it is your turn to talk to your children, even when it is uncomfortable, even when your voices tremble. White parents, it is your turn to speak out and renounce a system that perpetuates dangerous stereotypes, discrimination, and racism that is harmful to all of us. White parents, what if your talk was an invitation for your children to untether the systems of oppression, so that we can finally have justice?
